Don't you just love a good pun? Like how the title of this post refers both to my furniture project this week (it's distressed) and about how it's Help The Dweller Week...and I'm sending out an SOS!
Anyway, let's get on with it shall we??
Remember this table?
Well, I'm planning on putting it in my guest room with my sweet and lovely Cream chalk paint childhood dresser from last week. But there's an issue. I don't want to finish it in the same color because I don't want it to be super "Matchy". So I did what I always do. I got a few cheap pieces junkin to try out a couple of possible finishes.
Here are the the two step stools Mr. D. negotiated down to $3 each for me! I figured these would be great because we are on the path to getting a little person in our house who will need a step up to reach the sink...that is after we know who Baby Dwell is...and even then it will be some time before he/she is able to wash his/her own hands!
But I digress...again...
So I gave them a solid base coat. One in Provance Blue and one in Antebes Green (both chalk paint) but the green was too bright so I tempered it with some graphite black (about 2 teaspoons black to a half cup of green.
I gave them an overcoat of Old White, distressed and waxed. This is what I ended up with.
So, to quote Sting...I'm sendin' out an S.O.S., sendin' out and S.O.S. to the world!
What do you guys think I should do to the drum table....Stain the whole thing? Stain the top and paint the legs?
Ahhh...I'm so distressed!
